Things to look for in a new home.
Any multiple listing will provide a written description of a home for sale. Of course with the Internet photos and videos are easily accessible. Here are items that are typically listed:
Square footage.
Number of bedrooms.
Age of the home.
Type of construction.
CC&Rs - Covenants, conditions & restrictions.
Type of property - Single family home, manufactured or mobile home, raw land, condominium, townhouse, or multi-family home.
Parking - Garage, carport or none.
Central air.
Fireplace.
A description of each room in the home - Kitchen, dining room, bedroom.
Other things to keep in mind for your new home:
Enviromentally friendly features.
Carpeting - Is it new carpet or does it need replaced?
Exterior - Does it need painted?
Property features of the home - Corner lot, corner lot, waterfront, river view, cul-de-sac, city lights, view ocean or golf course lot.
Lighting.
Is the home new or is the home one that is going to require extensive work and money invested.
Home Inspections. An offer to purchase real estate should be conditional on the home inspection. An experienced inspector can identify property issues that an inexperiened individual may not notice. Home inspections protect both the buyer and seller. Your real estate agent is familiar with the home inspections. This is a critial part of the home buying process and should never be skipped. When the report is done, you will have detailed insight into the property.
